Oak Bay is a municipality covering ten square kilometres (four square miles), located about three kilometres (two miles) from downtown Victoria, British Columbia. The area has ideal scenery, roads and pathways for walking, running and cycling. It contains many quiet neighbourhoods with both intimate back laneways for quiet exploration and a spectacular scenic seaside route extending along Beach Drive. From downtown Victoria, take a picturesque drive east along the south shore of Vancouver Island, take a short cab ride, hop on a tour bus, walk the three kilometres or take the #2 or 2A city bus.
Oak Bay is bordered by the University of Victoria and Saanich to the north, Foul Bay Road to the west, Haro Strait to the east and the Strait of Juan de Fuca to the south.
The main village area is situated on Oak Bay Avenue, with secondary retail centres located on Estevan Avenue, Cadboro Bay Road, and Foul Bay Road.
For walking, running and cycling, the busiest arterial roads are Oak Bay Avenue, Foul Bay Road, Cadboro Bay Road, Lansdowne Road, Cedar Hill Cross Road, north Henderson Road, and Beach Drive/King George Terrace. There are also many small walking paths connecting neighbourhoods.
